Barcelona will take on Real Madrid at the Nou Camp in La Liga tonight in a massive El Clasico.

Ernesto Valverde’s side, who have just wrapped up the La Liga title, are bidding to go the entire season unbeaten.

The last time Spain’s top flight had an unbeaten champion was back in the 1930s when there were only 18 games in a season.

Barcelona are on a 41-game unbeaten streak and their bitter rivals Real Madrid would love to break that staggering run.

Tensions ahead of the match have been stoked after Real Madrid said they would not give new La Liga champions Barcelona a guard of honour tonight.

Barcelona gave Real Madrid a guard of honour back in 2008 after the Galacticos won the La Liga title.

But Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was annoyed when Barcelona did not give his side a guard of honour in December after they won the Club World Cup.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s game, he said: “It's not up to me to decide about the guard of honour but they didn't do it.”

Zidane added: "But these things happen; if they'd have given us one, we weren't going to break the tradition of doing so."
Speaking about going an entire season unbeaten, Barcelona defender Lucas Digne said: "This is a record the team now wants to go for.

“It is important for us and we will give everything to hold on to it.

"Real winning the Champions League is still hypothetical; it is not done yet.

"This is the biggest match in the world. There is an expectation that is just amazing and a rivalry between the two clubs that goes back a very long way."
